{"id":302,"date":"2011-07-31T01:01:49","date_gmt":"2011-07-31T00:01:49","guid":{"rendered":"http:\/\/www.raidengland.org\/?page_id=302"},"modified":"2012-08-20T14:32:16","modified_gmt":"2012-08-20T13:32:16","slug":"programme-2012","status":"publish","type":"page","link":"https:\/\/www.raidengland.org\/?page_id=302","title":{"rendered":"Programme 2012"},"content":{"rendered":"<p><strong><span style=\"text-decoration: underline;\">Raid East<\/span><\/strong><\/p>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n<p>Dates 1- 5 August \u2013 high water midday-ish<\/p>\n<p>Idea is that morning \u2013 on rising tide \u2013 is spent exploring, afternoon race back on the tide.<\/p>\n<p>Typical day runs are 20 miles, which should leave enough time for exploring &amp; relaxing.<\/p>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n<p><strong>The Programme looks as follows (as at end May)<\/strong><\/p>\n<p><strong>\u00a0<\/strong><\/p>\n<p><strong>Wednesday 1st: HW 12 noon<\/strong><\/p>\n<p>Launch Woolverstone between 9am and 3 pm; sail round to Shotley Marina to get sorted.<\/p>\n<p><strong>If you arrive too late to launch at Woolverstone, it is possible to drive down to Shotley and launch off the beach, then entering the marina via the lock. Probably not favourite, though.<\/strong><\/p>\n<p>There is all tide access in and out of Shotley.<\/p>\n<p>Trailer parking available at Woolverstone; Campsite \u00bd mile from Shotley<\/p>\n<p>Kit transported by van or own cars to campsite<\/p>\n<p><span style=\"text-decoration: underline;\"><strong>Supper:<\/strong><\/span> \u00a0Shipwreck Bar (in Shotley Marina)<\/p>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n<p><strong>Thursday 2nd: HW 12.40<\/strong><\/p>\n<p>a.m.:Down Stour to Manningtree, maybe via Holbrook creek or Wrabness<\/p>\n<p>Haul up on beach, packed lunch at Stour SC.<\/p>\n<p>p.m.: to Harwich,\u00a0 Moor at town Quay.\u00a0<strong>Visit to Lightship LV18<\/strong><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"text-decoration: underline;\"><strong>Supper:<\/strong><\/span> Fish &amp; Chips at Harwich &amp; Dovercourt SC.<\/p>\n<p>Back to Shotley Marina before dusk.<\/p>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n<p><strong>Friday 3rd: HW 13.20<\/strong> \u2013 this is the day most susceptible to the weather, Plan A being:<\/p>\n<p>a.m.:Early(ish) start to Walton Backwaters<\/p>\n<p>Picnic lunch at Stone Point, and exploration (think Swallows &amp; Amazons!) in afternoon<\/p>\n<p>p.m.: Back to Shotley Marina,<\/p>\n<p><strong>Plan B will likely be Landguard Fort and Levington<\/strong><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"text-decoration: underline;\"><strong>Supper<\/strong><\/span>: Bristol Arms in Shotley<\/p>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n<p><strong>Saturday 4th: HW 14.00<\/strong><\/p>\n<p>a.m.:Up Orwell to Ipswich<\/p>\n<p>Lunch at Orwell YC<\/p>\n<p>p.m.: Back down to Woolverstone (haul out by 1700 for leavers) or into Royal Harwich YC marina for people sailing Sunday.<\/p>\n<p>Camp moves to Woolverstone if desired (or can stay at Shotley campsite).<\/p>\n<p>Walk along river to Pin Mill for<\/p>\n<p><span style=\"text-decoration: underline;\"><strong>Supper:<\/strong><\/span> and prizegiving at Pin Mill SC<\/p>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n<p><strong>Sunday 5th: <\/strong><\/p>\n<p>a.m.:Breakfast @ Royal Harwich YC for campers<\/p>\n<p>Free sailing<\/p>\n<p>p.m.: haul out at Woolverstone<\/p>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n<p><strong>Accommodation and charging<\/strong><\/p>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n<p>The basic cost of the Raid this year, for those who want to camp or sleep on their own boats, is a maximum of <strong>\u00a3190 per person<\/strong>.\u00a0 This includes launching fees, moorings Wednesday-Saturday nights inclusive, camp-site fees, rig parking, use of our minibus service, and supper, breakfasts and lunches Wednesday night to Sunday mid-day.\u00a0 If you aren\u2019t going to use all the meals, talk to us and we will make adjustments where our costs are variable.<\/p>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n<p>The costs for those organising their own accommodation will be a maximum of <strong>\u00a3130 per person.\u00a0 <\/strong>This includes everything except the camping fees and breakfasts.<\/p>\n<p><strong>I have done some squeezing and reduced the costs by \u00a330 per head since my first estimate.<\/strong><\/p>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n<p>It would be handy to know now the type of accomodation you will most likely opt for, not to commit you to it, but to help with planning:<\/p>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n<ol>\n<li>Camping all nights (Wednesday-Saturday at Shotley)<\/li>\n<li>Camping Weds\/Thurs\/Fri at Shotley, then at Woolverstone Saturday night)<\/li>\n<li>Living aboard own boat \u2013 if so are you likely to haul out Saturday or Sunday?<\/li>\n<li>Arranging own accommodation<\/li>\n<\/ol>\n<div><\/div>\n<div>\n<p lang=\"en-GB\" align=\"LEFT\"><span style=\"color: #000000;\"><span style=\"font-family: Arial, sans-serif;\"><span style=\"font-size: small;\"><strong>Boats likely to come<\/strong><\/span><\/span><\/span><\/p>\n<p lang=\"en-GB\" align=\"LEFT\"><span style=\"color: #000000;\"><span style=\"font-family: Arial, sans-serif;\"><span style=\"font-size: small;\">Currently 25 confirmed.<\/span><\/span><\/span><\/p>\n<p lang=\"en-GB\" align=\"LEFT\"><span style=\"color: #000000;\"><span style=\"font-family: Arial, sans-serif;\"><span style=\"font-size: small;\"><strong>Crew<\/strong><\/span><\/span><\/span><\/p>\n<p lang=\"en-GB\" align=\"LEFT\"><span style=\"color: #000000;\"><span style=\"font-family: Arial, sans-serif;\"><span style=\"font-size: small;\">A number of people have expressed interest in crewing.
