Blackwater Raid <\/strong><\/h2>\n\n\n\n

Tuesday 9th \u2013 Saturday 13th August 2022<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Registration, launching and accommodation is at the Essex Outdoors Centre, Waterside Road, Bradwell Waterside, Southminster CM0 7QY and at the nearby Bradwell Marina.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Launching will commence on Tuesday afternoon until 17:00. <\/p>\n\n\n\n

Llines and fenders are a must both for the Marina and rafting up during the Raid.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

On Tuesday evening an evening meal will be provided for all Raiders. <\/p>\n\n\n\n

If you intend to come earlier, may I remind you that The Raid will be paying for your berth on Tuesday, Wednesday, Thursday and Friday nights. If you want to come earlier, you must make arrangements with Bradwell Marina. The same is true with regard to Essex Outdoors. Those wishing to extend their stay must talk directly to them. I am sure both will be very happy to accommodate you.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Equipment:<\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n

I\u2019m sure your craft will be properly equipped for the Raid, but the following are essential;<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Life\/Jacket\/buoyancy aid per crew member<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Suitable Clothing<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Vessel \u2014 positive buoyancy<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Bucket \/ bailer \/ pump<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Mooring lines and fenders<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Secondary Propulsion or Paddle or oars<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Flares<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Compass<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Anchor and line<\/p>\n\n\n\n

A handheld VHF is not essential but would be helpful<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Responsibility \u2013 the legal bit:<\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n

Raid England shall not be liable for any loss, damage, death or personal injury howsoever caused to the Owner\/Skipper or crew, as a result of their taking part in the Event.  Moreover, every Owner\/Skipper warrants the suitability of his boat for the Event.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

The safety of a boat and her entire management including insurance shall be the sole responsibility of the Owner\/ Skipper, who must ensure that the boat is fully found, thoroughly seaworthy, manned by a crew sufficient in number and experience who are physically fit to face bad weather.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

The Owner\/Skipper must be satisfied as to the soundness of the hull, spars, rigging and all gear.  He must ensure that all safety equipment is properly maintained, stowed and in date and that the crew know where it is kept and how it is to be used.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
